Workpiece: |
Shafts of different diameters and lengths (12 variants) |
Task: |
A grinding machine is to be automatically loaded and unloaded with shafts of different dimensions. The ground shafts must then be cleaned and optically measured. In addition, a calibration master and dressing tools are to be used. |
Solution: |
The system consists of a TECHTORY floor cell with a sturdy base plate. The two operator drawers for workpieces are also part of the TECHTORY automation modular system. They are equipped with holders for customer containers. In addition, there is one drawer each for SPC (Statistical Process Control) parts and non-conforming parts, as well as a protected storage area for dressing tools. Loading and unloading of customer components is performed manually. LEDs on the exterior indicate the status of the drawers and nest occupancy. A generously sized access door allows the operator to perform work inside the cell at any time or to access the grinding machine’s door.
Inside the cell, an industrial robot feeds workpieces to the machine tool. For this purpose, the robot arm is equipped with a spring-loaded double gripper featuring an additional suction nozzle. The gripper has sufficient stroke to handle the entire range of components. After the ground parts are removed, they are cleaned and placed in a device for optical measurement. Finally, they are deposited in the output drawer or in the drawer for non-conforming parts. The robot also handles the dressing tools and the calibration master. To prevent mix-ups, a camera system checks them before they are loaded into the machine tool. |
